When I Ride…

Stiff is dead, flexible is living…

Confused elm trees

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” – Anais Nin

When I read this quote today, I thought of the seemingly confused Elm Tree I observed while riding this afternoon. The drought has not allowed the trees to develop their leaves as they normally would and with the recent rains and temperatures in the 50s F. this Elm has decided to quickly create buds and then begin to leaf out. Will it be able to make pollen and seeds to fly off into the pasture to continue the circle of life?
