This weekend, Tina and I loaded up and headed down to South Texas, Smith Ranch down in Three Rivers to be exact. She is in the process of showing the Mustangs from the extreme makeover a few new things…
Here is their campsite and they are eating happily while surrounded by a portable electric fence, the first time to be around one of those for sure. We won’t have one on the Colorado Trail but there’s nothing wrong with showing a horse his boundaries!
South Texas is beautiful this time of year, well it’s beautiful all the time! The white brush is blooming and the butterflies are migrating to Mexico. I am a judge for this association. My assistant and I are waiting for our first contestants to walk up the sendero.
Kind of creepy, but this obstacle was in reference to a scene from the made for TV series, Lonesome Dove. The rider had to take a hold of the rope and lift the dummy off the ground, backingthe horse in a straight line. They were judged on control and teamwork between horse and rider.
A shot of Tina getting Maverick ready for his day. All in all, it was a great experience. Tina placed in both of her rides with Maverick and Geronimo. Just another step closer to being ready for Colorado Trail, 2017
Wild to mild…
What beautiful creatures – you’re lucky…
Thank you, yes. We have been blessed for sure.
