Saturday is the first day on trail and it’s been a whirlwind of activity with no signal so here is a moment I wrote about a couple of days ago with a photo of our base camp. One more day!

I smell the rain that I see, a gray haze coming across the plateau. Then the cool air gently brushes my arms, lifts the few strands of hair off my fourhead and then completely envelopes me. I close my eyes not wanting to miss a single moment all senses on alert. Where will the first drop hit? I waited…
