Training for Life…

A friend of mine called me while I was walking out in the rain with the dogs. He laughed, and asked… “What are you doing out there? Are you training for something? ” At first, my shoulders slumped as I sadly thought, I was not in training for anything. Then it occurred to me, I’m training for life! I’m training for the next moment, whatever it will bring. I’m preparing my mind and body to go with the flow. I will not be caught off guard by a thunderstorm and run for cover. I will slow my breathing, turn my face to the sky and accept the rain as it falls on my eyelids. I will smile at the sound of the dog’s tags jingling in the brush and know that I am in good company. I may walk alone but that does not mean I am lonely. On the last day of 2018, I challenge you to learn more about yourself. Go somewhere you have never been, do something you have never done. Make 2019 the year of breaking out of your comfort zone. I’ll see you there.

  1. What a lovely, post.
I enjoyed reading your writing style. It flows like a discussion with a friend. May your new year be exactly as you imagine it to be.
    Thanks for sharing.
    And keep writing!
