When I Ride…

Pam the Blanket Lady…

Sewing up a storm

In this economy, people are finding a niche and turning it into a business. Pam Moreland, of Weatherford, Texas, has been repairing and cleaning horse blankets for years but has started weaving custom saddle blankets. 100% natural wool, they are gorgeous works of art.

I interviewed and took pictures of her  operation during the NCHA Futurity in Ft. Worth, for an article in Examiner.com.

Pam started off just cleaning and repairing winter blankets. She worked out of her home and enjoyed what she did. News spread that her service was top-notch and her business has grown into a creative and appreciated service.

This example of perseverance is an inspiration to me. She saw something that people needed done and she did it. Does it well. Cleaning and mending blankets must have gotten her creative juices flowing. She designs and weaves, yes, weaves show saddle blankets. These high quality saddle blankets are custom designs. Particularly popular with the cutting horse people, they are seen at Quarter Horse and Ranch Horse Shows as well.
